Twitter also! They are obsessed like a dog with a bone. I wonder what Disney can do at this stage to minimise the damage.
Damage control is needed at this point. But I have the feeling that if Disney addresses the controversy, the backlash will be even bigger.
People want "Mulan" to fail, and they're succeeding at it.

It is gutting because most people who have seen the movie give a good feedback on Twitter but their comments are drowned by all the boycott crap.
Somebody has cursed our girl, every opportunity for success just turns to dust!

Where is this happening? Is it on Twitter? I haven't seen a single negative comment about the film or the music so far. Just people who think it is a bleh kind of film, but hey, it is Disney so duh...
ANOM on its way to cross 100M on YouTube!

On Twitter, check the top comments and the recent comments section.
Lots of major news outlets are also reporting on the boycott and the region of China where some of the scenes were filmed.

Just ignore them. This is something political...
In fact, this may work in favor of Mulan. Seeing the hate they're getting, Chinese people may flood the theatres in response.

Seriously though. This needs to be discussed in detail...its creepy at this point! Striptina what gives?
Personally, this is what I identify the most with Christina. I do not believe in luck, magic, etc., as I have the WORST luck ever. I always have to prepare for whatever may come... But you know what? I am grateful for it.
I know how strong I've become thanks to it, so I'm happy to be a fighter!

I have exactly the same opinion. Screaming Twitter can kiss Disney's ass.

It's very naive to deny the power of social media to hinder a movie's success in 2020.
If people are bombarded on every social media (YouTube, Twitter, IG) with comments slandering the movie because "it's shit, it's the worst Disney's live action movie, it was filmed in a region with detention camps, Yifei Liu supports fascists and police brutality" people sure won't be encouraged to go to movie theaters or spend $30 on Disney+.
And if a Disney executive admits how much trouble the controversy is causing, then things are going south:
Also, the movie didn't do as expected in China. Disney was banking on China box office numbers, but "Mulan" ended up doing just a little better than "Tenet":

I think Mulan will do very well on Disney+ come December. Everyone I know that wants to watch it is waiting til then.
It was so dumb of them to announce that it would be free in December
Disney experimented with this. Christmas was perfect for Mulan release after James Bond would have heated the moviegoers, but they took a Risk. I want them to make public the official numbers.
Xtinawise, she wont lose. The film Will be forever in Disney AND the songs Will have legs.
The movie release did not do any wonders for both songs but they are good for Christina's discography. I see them more as like the Burlesque tracks which did not chart but has a strong streaming performance. Christina needed these two songs after Liberation singles did not take off.
Anything more than 30M on YT and Spotify for both songs would be a hit in her discography. But ideally as a Disney song, it needs at least 50M on YT.
I just did #Mulan search on Twitter and found mostly boycott tweets.
It's mostly about Uighur Muslims that are detained and kept in concentration camps in the region Xinjiang.
edit: all of this boycott-mess has to do with the movie, not Christina though. Thus, I don't really care. These boycotts and outrages happen all the time nowadays, lot of people are also tired of them.

The songs are increasing a lot on iTunes in Asia and Oceania and they’re starting to in Europe. They’ll definitely die every week and come back to life every weekend. That’s great!
The increase for El Major Guerrero is crazy though?!?!?!
So Christina's single versions were removed from the Disney Hits Playlist and now Reflection 2020 soundtrack version is #3 and LBT #6 on the playlist... i really hope they delete the single versions soon...

I want her to perform the songs again on TV.
It will be available for free from December 4 for Disney+ users, so we can expect a boost then.
